I love going there to dine in or takeout for their steamed beef rice rolls and quart containers of congee (Chinese rice porridge) with meatballs and sliced beef in the morning. Always one of my favorite comfort foods plus favorite spot in the neighborhood. So delicious and comforting to have something fulfilling and warm in my stomach. Has a simple and straightforward menu of authentic and flavorful Cantonese-styled congee, stir-fries, noodle soups, rice platters, and other noodle dishes. General pricing is considered as reasonable, seafood is moderately-priced depending on what you're ordering. Cash only, no credit cards allowed. Ambiance is your no-frills and typical Chinese diners/restaurants. Noise level isn't too bad. Service from staff is average but I usually take the food to go, so it's not a big dealbreaker to me. One block away from the 7 train (walking distance wise).
Strongly recommend their salt and pepper pork chop! Beef with broccoli is also a delicious and healthy choice
Yep, it's like being back in the Yunan province although the food is a bit different from the traditional roast pork and duck with white rice and Chinese veggie dishes we got. Duck was OUTSTANDING- crispy with no game. Roast pork was well seasoned and had the red/orange sear. Also had a shrimp rice crepe - shrimp snapping back tells me it's ultra fresh. Well done.
Classic no frills Cantonese food+hanging meats place in heart of flushing. Good food, quick service, it'll help if you speak Cantonese here. Yangchow fried rice, garlic sautéed veggies, hanging meats, salt pepper pork was our order. But others items are so good too.
Who wouldve thought this place is actually a sister restaurant of that long standing Big Wong King in Chinatown? I dont have to travel far to get their congees, ox tongue pastry [shown in the pic], and their roast meat selection. Even most of their menus are pretty similar to what you would see at Big Wong King. I love coming here during winter time so that I could devour their decent congees. Its a no frills, fast casual spot, great portion, worth the price you pay for.. I come by often whenever Im nearby..
I've never eaten at the restaurant, but I've ordered take-out from here so many times that I can't even count. The food is classic Cantonese food - congee, dim sum, rice with meat, noodle soup, etc. Conveniently located right next to the library. Parking can be hard to find. Inside, the restaurant is reasonably spaced out so you can sit down and enjoy a meal or simply order. It's more of a restaurant meant for a quick bite or a quick lunch meal than a nice get-together. Service wise -- old school Cantonese. While they can speak Mandarin, they are fluent in Cantonese. The service is pretty much yelling at the employees about what you ordered. It's normal. It's not friendly, but it gets the point across. The guy at the front taking orders is much more friendly compared to the stern woman with an upset look on her face. I normally come here for their congee (seafood, a thousand-year-old egg with pork, boiled fish, or boiled chicken (for my sister)) with fried dough. You cannot go wrong with the congee here. We recently checked out their dim sum selection, which is quite affordable. Shrimp rice noodles and other rice noodles were $3 for a container. The rice dishes are also good. It's on par when it comes to pricing. A good classic Cantonese spot.
Wow really good lean duck for a great price too! It's quite rare to find a good roast duck place that has lean meat. There's also set meals with choice of meat, cabbage, and rice. The huge pots of congee looks so thick and delicious- a lot of diners were ordering congee with a side of meat. Service was really fast, the chef was nonstop chopping meat. $38 for a whole roast duck.
